  2. There's a blog discussing homosexuality in depth from a sound Islamic perspective.
    http://gaymuslims.wordpress.com

It features a detailed 2-part analysis of the 2006 documentary mentioned:
    http://gaymuslims.wordpress.com/2006/01/24/the-c4-documentary-i/
    http://gaymuslims.wordpress.com/2006/01/29/the-c4-documentary-ii/

There is no difference of opinion among Islamic scholars about the prohibition of homosexuality. The opinion mentioned about sex-change operations is a different matter. The only people who claim that homosexuality is allowed in Islam are ignorant of the religion and deceitful in their intentions.

  3. It was wrong to say that "being gay" makes someone non-Muslim. Even the anchor's clarifications were inaccurate, as continuously committing a sin is no reason to suggest they would become outside of Islam. The matter is to deny a ruling which is crystal-clear in the religion.

    A relevant article:

By the way, they or their colleagues also run an email support group for Muslims who wish to overcome their same-sex attractions.

  5. Salaam. excellent podcast, I felt it was great to hear a number of different views and voices.

I'm also really impressed that you took a brave step in discussing a 'taboo' topic. Indeed the stance you took was correct in saying that we as young muslims should take these discussions forward, as we are the ones who are being affected by them today.

The common view was that you would attempt to 'guide' the individual who was homosexual, although it sounded as if you weren't sure what to do and would more likely disown any such individual.

My question, therefore, is what would you do if someone from YM came up to you and told you they were homosexual? Would you disown them, or break your friendship ties with this person? Maybe you can address this in your next podcast.

Also, I wanted to point out that the distinguishing between 'homosexual acts' and 'homosexual feelings' should be made, as there is a major difference. Perhaps one who has homosexual feelings, but does not act on them, is actually being rewarded for their strength in overcoming these desires.

Keep it up guys, can't wait till next time.

    Peace
